Last weekend (July 25 and 26, 2026) not only brought summery temperatures to Mülsen, Saxony, but also intense action on the track. After the start of the IAME Series Germany in Kerpen and the second race in Wackersdorf, the journey to the easternmost venue on the calendar was undertaken. The Arena E in Mülsen welcomed the single-brand kart racing series with its Mini Swift, X30 Junior, and X30 Senior classes, as well as the Shifter Series Germany, and heralded the final sprint of the season. There were exciting races characterized by slipstream battles.
IAME Mini Swift: Close Duel for Victory
The youngest participants of the weekend delivered close and exciting races. With a dominant pole position, Vincent Oliver Rieso (FSR Performance) secured the best starting position for the heats. He was unbeatable on both Saturday and Sunday. However, the competition was not sleeping. It was no surprise in the Superheat that Benedikt Wetzel (TB Racing Team) was able to follow in his slipstream and only had to concede defeat by tenths of a second. Starting the most important race of the day with his previous performance, Rieso aimed to complete a perfect weekend in the final. However, Wetzel had no intention of settling for this plan. At the decisive moment, he managed to overtake Rieso and celebrated victory as the checkered flag fell. Third place went to Czech Viktor Hlavicka (E&S Motorsport), ahead of Finn Gebert (Nees Racing) and Austrian Marcel Pfeiffenberger.
X30 Juniors: Bektas Remains Undefeated
Among the X30 Juniors, a three-way battle for victory emerged early on. The dominant force of the season so far, Semih Bektas (SH Kartsport), narrowly beat Kilian Wurm (TB Racing Team) in qualifying. Throughout the heats, Bektas was unchallenged at the front, but the fastest female driver in the field, Ceyda-Linet Pirecioglu (KSL Racing Team), pursued him closely. Bektas, Pirecioglu, and Wurm held the top three positions through the Superheat, setting the first three grid spots for the final. Here, Bektas got the best start and immediately took the lead. Wurm followed, keeping pace for a long time but ultimately unable to overcome Bektas, settling for second place. Pirecioglu, however, had a disastrous start to the race: a jump start resulted in a time penalty, dropping her to fifth place. Her teammate Lenn Göckmann and Leon Fiedler (TR-Motorsport) moved up.
X30 Seniors: Varied Races
The X30 Seniors were once again the class with the most participants in Mülsen. Four drivers were separated by just one tenth of a second in qualifying, with Joelina Denzel (MPK Motorsport) securing pole position. With a spirited performance, she also won the Superheat, benefiting from a penalty incurred by the actual winner, Emilio Bernd. It was closer in the second heat: Denzel again prevailed against her male competitors, but the gap narrowed significantly. The battle for points in Sunday afternoon’s Superheat was similarly tight: a new name emerged and skillfully put himself in the spotlight: Jan Schwarzer (VM Energy Corse Germany) beat his teammate Daniel Brozovic and Emilio Bernd, catapulting himself to the first starting position for the final. In the final, there was a lot of movement in the field already in the first corner: Brozovic saw a gap and overtook. He could not be caught during the race and celebrated at the finish line. Emilio Bernd followed closely behind, ahead of Joelina Denzel. Schwarzer dropped to fourth place due to a penalty but held off Jesse Kirkby (Magic Kart Germany), who completed the top five.
KZ2: Brotherly Duel for Victory
As in the season opener in Kerpen, the race in Mülsen was marked by a brotherly duel. Lutz and Max Ohsenbrink (both KSL Racing Team) left no doubt and dominated the proceedings at will. Max Ohsenbrink was even faster than his brother. With a perfect weekend, pole position, victories in both heats and the Superheat, he went into the final as the clear favorite and lived up to his role. He won ahead of Lutz Ohsenbrink and Benno Drelok (Drelok-Racing-Team). Thomas Mühling (Bamberger NB-Motorsport) completed the field.
