New and old winners at the mid-season point
Just two weeks after the premiere of the IAME Series Germany and the Shifter Series Germany in Kerpen, the action continued in quick succession on the first weekend of June. This time the journey led to Wackersdorf in Bavaria, where Prokart Raceland welcomed the participants of the IAME Mini Swift, IAME X30 Juniors, X30 Seniors, and KZ2. Once again, the results were positive, and the concept continues to be well-received by the starters.
IAME Mini Swift: International field among the youngest pilots
Following the German premiere of the IAME Mini Swift class in Kerpen, the weekend in Wackersdorf again featured a promo package. This was once again utilized by several drivers who traveled from four different nations. Vincent Oliver Rieso (FSR Performance) got the weekend off to the best start with pole position, while the heat wins were shared between Ukrainian Artem Kikireshko (UN1) and Belgian Gilles Dewaele (CRG Belgium), though Rieso still maintained the upper hand in the points standings on home turf with two second-place finishes. Kikireshko then prevailed in the superheat and was unstoppable from then on: in the final, he left the entire competition behind and celebrated his second victory of the young season following his success in Kerpen. The podium was completed by Dewaele in second and Rieso in third. Among the top five, Benedikt Wetzel (TB Racing Team) and Valerio Geiger (RS-Motorsport) also collected valuable points.
X30 Juniors: Bektas wins after a comeback drive
In the X30 Juniors, Lenn Göckmann (KSL Racing Team) got his first taste of the lead. With the fastest lap in qualifying, he secured pole position for the following heats. In the first heat on Saturday, the German confirmed his form and kept the competition behind him, with his teammate Ceyda-Linet Pirecioglu in particular staying within striking distance. This order was reversed in the second heat. This time, Pirecioglu was able to impress. In the superheat, Semih Bektas struck: the Turk struggled with problems in qualifying but worked his way into an excellent starting position before the final and won the superheat. The final saw a showdown between the weekend’s protagonists. All three favorites had a chance at victory and were separated by only a few tenths of a second. Ultimately, it was Bektas again who, just like in Kerpen, won ahead of Pirecioglu. Göckmann finished third ahead of Stella Ritter (RS-Motorsport) and the Irishman Jamie Mulvay.
X30 Seniors: Emilio Bernd dominates in Wackersdorf
The official X30 Senior sessions began with a surprise: Jan Schwarzer (RS-Motorsport) shocked his opponents with a dream lap and grabbed the first starting spot. In the subsequent heats, however, his lack of experience showed. Switzerland’s Florent Panes took advantage of this and won the first heat. On Sunday, Emilio Bernd’s (VM Energy Corse Germany) hour arrived: the championship leader made short work of it, winning the second heat and the superheat in succession, and crowned his performance with success in the final. This allowed him to decisively extend his lead in the points standings. Behind him, positions changed from race to race: Jan Schwarzer found his way back into the weekend late and finished the final in a strong second place. He was followed by the fastest lady in the field, Joelina Denzel (TR Motorsport). Florent Panes finished fourth, defending his position against Elias Tittus (CV Performance X JP Motorsport) in fifth.
KZ2: Increase in participants in Wackersdorf
After a bumpy start for the Shifter Series Germany in Kerpen, there were significantly better-filled grids in Wackersdorf. Eric Wess immediately put a new name at the top of the timing monitor in qualifying. He concluded Saturday with a win in the first heat and entered Sunday as the leader of the intermediate standings, where he also controlled the second heat. In the superheat, Austrian Adrian Martinz made life difficult for him and won the race. The rivals thus stood side-by-side on the front row for the final. Martinz had the better cards on his side here. In his first start in the Shifter Series Germany, he triumphed immediately. Wess finished the race in the runner-up spot, followed by Jesse Kirkby (Magik Kart Germany) and the brothers Max and Lutz Ohsenbrink (both KSL Racing Team).
The IAME Series Germany continues on July 25 and 26. The second half of the season will then be ushered in at Arena E in Mülsen.
